Final Update! July 19, 2007, 12:20am

Looks like we've got a full success on our hands! All the data's been recovered, and all the sites are on the road to recovery! Within the next 12 to 24 hours you should see our sites completely back to normal (well, minus a couple of minor bugs I might have missed)...

Thanks for everyone's patience as we put the sites back online. It was a frustrating experience for all of us, but rest assured we'll always do whatever we can to keep The One Ring and The Stone Table up and running!

FYI, I'll probably go ahead an delete this blog in the not-too-distant future...

Site Update: July 18, 11:42am

Now that the messageboards are back online, I'm working on getting the rest of TORC and TST back up. The front pages of each site are more complex as we use Tomcat (aka the Apache Java server) to run the content management application. The new hardware required me to set it up again, and it's always a beast to do (each new server seems to have it's new and interesting quirks).

I expect the sites will be back up no later than tomorrow at some point, July 19.

Server Update: July 18, 12:44am PST

Success! I have the forums (for both TORC and TST) fully working again! It doesn't look like any data was lost, as the last post in the database was on Sunday. I've made the DNS submission, so you guys should be seeing it in the next 12-24 hours.

I'm working on getting the actual sites (www.theonering.com and www.thestonetable.com) back up, but that will take a bit longer. I'll add a link to the forums from the current splash page just to let everyone know once I've confirmed the new IP address of the sites are propogating.

Good news! I am now in control of the new server and am working on retrieving all the backups! It seems that all the old data is there, and I'm moving it to the new and proper locations now. I will still have to check to make sure that the data isn't corrupted. We'll see how that goes :-/ ... hopefully well.

Server Update: July 17th, 6:12pm PST

I just spoke with a tech at my host, and he is working on the hardware now. As soon as I have access, I will attempt to start retrieving the data and rebuild the site. I am told all the data from the old server will be accessible... I'll let you know of the progress being made.

I'm hoping I'll have another update tonight.

The hardware is supposedly being setup now. Hopefully this is a faster process than its been. I will get stuff up as soon as possible!
